  • Legislative Report & Correspondence #8, 2019
    Posted On: Feb 22, 2019

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In Legislative Report #8, 2019 (attached) you will find the complete bill history for each of the selected bills that we have been following and reporting on for the past eight (8) weeks. Note the many steps each bill must go through in order to advance. A link to the bill itself has also been provided.

Next week we reach the half-way point of the session. Any bill not having passed out of Committee and out of its house of origin will die.  I will be removing the dead bills from next week’s report so that we can concentrate our efforts on surviving bills as they make their way through the second chamber.

The second half promises to be even more tumultuous than the first.  Watch SB 12, the Bias Crime Bill. It passed out of the Senate after removal of all categories, including law enforcement. General language that encompasses everyone, including law enforcement, was added. Will that language survive the House? Stay tuned!

Again, next week’s report will be include only bills still alive and dead bills will be removed. It will be much more manageable.  Please contact President Owensby or me with any questions.

    Fraternally,

    Leo
