  • Legislative Report & Correspondence #4, 2019
    Updated On: Jan 28, 2019

    Dear brothers and sisters,

In Legislative Report #4, 2019 you will find the latest information on each of the bills we are following this session. The last three actions on each bill are listed along with a link to the bill itself. On selected bills I have included some additional information under the comments section.

We are continuing our efforts to secure hearings and necessary floor votes to advance bills. Note that SB 85 has been recommitted to the Senate Appropriations Committee. I have met with the Committee Chairman and personally requested that he hear the bill. If the bill does not get heard it dies. If the bill gets heard and fails to pass this committee it dies. On the other hand, if we can get it heard and out of this committee we will be much further along toward passage. I am optimistic that we will receive a hearing and move the bill out of committee with a do pass recommendation to floor.

Take a look at HB 1170, SB 79, SB 164, SB 172 and SB 603. I am hopeful that we will be seeing activity on each of these important pieces of legislation in the next week or two. Stay tuned.

Please contact either President Bill Owensby or me if you have questions.

    Fraternally,

    Leo
