    Paul Stofleth Obituary

    Paul Andrew Stofleth


    Evansville, Ind.

    Paul Andrew Stofleth, 91, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Holiday Retirement Village.

    Paul was born in Evansville, Ind., on June 1, 1926, to the late Sylvester Otto and Mary Catherine (Schaefer) Stofleth. He graduated from Central High School and honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Oak Hill as a Pharmacist Mate. Paul retired form Sterling Brewery after 35 years of service and went on to work part-time for Miller and Miller Funeral Home. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #1114 and the St. Joseph Parish Men's Club and was proud to be on the first Honor Flight of Southern Indiana in October of 2014. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife. Together they were honorary members of the Brute Society for their lifelong service to St. Joseph Parish. Paul loved his family deeply and will be missed by all who knew him.

    Paul is survived by his daughters, Donna Goodrich (Bob), of Chiefland, Fla., Mary Louise Leslie (Jan), of Evansville, Ind., Jane Collins (David), of Evansville, Ind., and Linda Campbell (Dannie), of Evansville, Ind.; sons, Roy Stofleth (Linda), of Evansville, Ind., Michael Stofleth (Esther), of St. Philips, Ind., Thomas Stofleth (Xiufang) and James Stofleth; sisters-in-law, Loretta Stofleth and Carolyn Mueller; he was very proud of each and every one of his 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend, Martha Tornatta.

    Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie (Mueller) Stofleth, in 2011; by his parents; by his brothers, Sylvester Stofleth, Francis Stofleth and Bernard Stofleth; and by his dear friend, Olive Turpin.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church (All Saints Parish), 600 E. Virginia St., Evansville, IN 47711, with Father Jay Davidson celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

    Friends may visit from 3 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, and again from 9 a.m. until Mass time at the church on Wednesday.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Hospice, 1202 W. Buena Vista Rd., #107, Evansville, IN 47710.

    The family would like to thank Dr. William Blanke and staff and also the staff at Holiday Retirement Village and Heritage Hospice for their care and compassion.
